Battle Brothers – How to Install Mods

This page will guide on how to install mods to your Battle Brothers game. The process is fairly simple but as the game does not have a Steam Workshop page you will need to install mods manually.

Where to Get Battle Brothers Mods

One of the easiest ways to install mods through steam games is through the Steam Workshop. With a lack of steam workshop support, the best place to find mods for Battle Brothers is on Nexus mods. Being one of the largest databases for mods, Nexus Mods is where you will find mods for most games, not just Battle Brothers. You can go straight to the Battle Brothers Nexus Mods page through this link.

Simply search through here for the mods you want to download, or go through the “Popular” mods until you find something you want to try out. Navigate to that mod’s page and select the heading Files. Once you’re at files you want to find the latest version of the mod and select Manual Download.

How to Install Mods to Battle Brothers

Now that you have the mods that you desire to play with, keep them in a save place for now. You can leave the folders zipped. We want to place these zipped folders in a specific place in your Battle Brothers installation. The easiest way to get here is by simply right-clicking Battle Brothers in your steam library and selecting; > Manage > Browse Local Files. Once you are at the install folder select the folder titles Data. This is where the zipped mod folders should be moved to.

You can easily get to the Battle Brothers install folder through the steam library

The full folder path will be as follows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BattleBrothers\data

Once you have moved the relevant folders over to the data folder simply boot the game up as normal. You will get a quick pop-up when starting the game with mods for the first time. Don’t be worried this is quite normal. As usual keep in mind that mods are fan-created changes for the game. Always back up saves if you are worried about losing any progress as installing mods may produce unwanted errors and loss of data. Most of the time you will be safe but as always, backing up is always a good idea.
