How to Clean Blood from Floors and Walls in Project Zomboid

Although Project Zomboid is at it’s heart a zombie survival experience, many players have taken to decorating and creating their ultimate base. This may not be the sims but many players definately take pride in their well-organized, clean bases. One downside to taking out zombies in your base is the amount of blood and brains that will be spread across your base.


How to Clean Floors and Walls

Required Items for Cleaning

In order to clean up the blood from your base in Project Zomboid you are going to need a few items. you will need:

  • A mop or bath towel
  • A bottle of bleach

You can find towels and bleach inside bathrooms mostly in regular houses in Project Zomboid. You can usually find mops in garages and cupboards. It is essential that you have a bottle of bleach to be able to clean blood and other messes in Project Zomboid. A bar of soap or washing detergent will not cut it unfortunately.


Cleaning Up That Mess

Once you’ve assembled the tools for the job the process of actually cleaning up your base/house in Project Zomboid could not be simpler. All you have to do to clean the blood off the ground and walls is to right click on it and select the option Clean Blood.

After the action is selected you will be able to select an area which you would like to clean. You can only clean area’s where the square you are selecting is green in color. To clean walls, simply select the square next to where the bloody wall is.

Why Do You need to Clean Your Base?

Not only is keeping your base clean important for aesthetic reasons, it is also important for your character’s health. If you leave blood and rotting corpses around the base and your character is around them a lot, they can also get sick just because of this.

Not a fan of this? Want to keep random zombie bodies around your base without detrimental effects? In the Sandbox settings when creating a game, you can change the effects that decaying bodies have on your character’s health and emotions. Under the Meta category, you can change the Decaying Corpse Health Impact to whichever setting you’d like from None, Low, Normal or High.
