One of the rarer fish that you can catch in Stardew Valley is an Albacore. Along with fetching a fairly decent price when sold, the Albacore is also a core ingredient that the farmer will have to find for Gus’ “Fish Stew” quest.

Where Can the Albacore Be Found/Caught?
You can catch the Albacore at the Ocean at the south of the village. The albacore can be caught in any part of the ocean at the beach. You won’t have to specifically go over to the east side or onto Willy’s dock. That being said, you can only catch an albacore at very specific times of the day.
The Albacore can only be caught in the early morning and at night at the ocean. The exact times of day when it is possible to catch an albacore are; 6am-11am and 6pm-2am.
The albacore can also only be caught during 2 seasons of the year. These two seasons are Fall and Winter. There is a 0 percent chance of reeling in one of these fish during the other months so don’t even bother trying! Luckily the quest in which you will need one is on the 26th of Winter so you will have plenty of time to prepare.
To recap, you will have to catch an Albacore at the ocean in Fall or Winter between 6am and 11am or 6pm and 2am.
Buying an Albacore in Stardew Valley
If you have no plans of doing any fishing by the ocean then luckily you are also able to purchase an albacore. That being said, you will have to have a little luck here.
The albacore can be bought from both the Travelling Cart shop in the forest and from Krobus’ shop. The only problem here is that both of these shops have a rotating random inventory. This means you will have to check every day to see if the albacore is apart of their daily inventory. The albacore does have a chance to appear in both of the shops but due to the fact it is completely random, you may not ever see it appear here.
How to Catch Any Fish at Any Time of the Year
If you don’t fancy waiting half a year for your chance to catch an albacore, there is an item for that too! The item, Magic Bait can be purchased from Qi’s shop on Ginger Island.
If you use this bait, like you’d use regular bait on a fishing rod, you can catch fish from any time of the year. You will still have to fish in the correct location however and the fish you hook will be random. Whatever can be caught at the ocean has a possibility of being caught using magic bait.
