How to play Project Zomboid: Build 42

This guide will show you how to enable the most current build of Project Zomboid for your playing enjoyment. This update adds a bunch of new features since Build 41 including rag-doll physics, new locations and also animals and husbandry to name a few.

Enabling Build 42 on Steam

It’s actually very simple to start playing the new build of Project Zomboid. All you have to do is change one setting on Steam.

First; Right click on Project Zomboid in your Steam library. Select the option from the dropdown Properties. Once here, go to the Betas tab, click on the Beta Participation dropdown and select the option under “None” which is called ‘unstable’.

As the name suggest, this is a beta build and is meant for testing purposes so make sure to back up your save often as crashes are more likely here than on the stable versions of the game.

Once you select the menu option and leave the settings, Steam will automatically update Project Zomboid to build 42 for you to start playing. Happy surviving!
