In Project Zomboid, you are tasked with surviving the zombie apocalypse for as long as possible. The game uses deep mechanics and systems to create one of the most realistic survival experiences currently in gaming. With hunger, thirst and health also comes fatigue. Your character can get tired and will need to sleep from time to time.
The most common way you can achieve this is by bunkering down in a house and finding a bed. Alternatively you can also sleep in any vehicle you have access too. This can be a great way to rest your character when you’re out and about. This guide will show you how.
How to Sleep in a Car in Project Zomboid
Once you are inside a car, you will be able to sleep inside it. You don’t even have to have the key to the vehicle to do this. It’s best to make sure you have parked your car in a safe area and have the windows all the way up (and not broken).
To start sleeping in your car in Project Zomboid, while you are inside the vehicle, hold down the V key. This will open the vehicle radial menu. Now, find the icon which shows the “ZZZ” and select it. You character will then sleep in their car until they are not tired anymore.
Just like in a regular bed in the game, your character will not be able to sleep in a car if they are panicked or not tired. You should also be aware that if you have broken a window to get into a car, this will provide zombies with a chance to attack you. make sure you don’t sit and sleep in the same seat where the window is broken.
