One of the most interesting aspects of Star Valor like any sandbox is the random events that can happen in the game. From time to time, you may come across a distress signal in Star Valor while travelling the universe. This is a message from another traveller in need of help! But what are they in the game and how do you deal with them?
This guide will show you what to do when you see a distress signal in Star Valor and what you can get out from them.
How to Find Distress Signals in Star Valor
Firstly, distress signals are simply another person communicating that they are in need of help. There is no way to specifically come across these distress signals, they are just a random event. You will have more luck finding distress signals when you are in sectors where there is not so much activity going.
Simply fly around in lonely areas of the map and as some point you will see a distress signal has been found nearby. A message will appear just as in the image below.
What to do With Distress Signals
Once your fleet has detected a distress signal there is basically two options. Either ignore it completely, or go and check out what is going on there. You can find the exact location of the distress signal by checking out your minimap. Here, you will see a large grey arrow pointing in the direction that the distress signal is coming from. Follow the direction of this arrow to find where the distress signal is coming from.
When you follow it for enough time you will see an icon of loot on the minimap. Here you will find what is left of the battle. This is usually an escape pod containing a crew member. Once you drive over this escape pod you will gain the crew members as a passenger. If you don’t have any free passenger seats on your ship you can have a fleet member take them on or come back another time.
There is also a chance that you will find a derelict ship here. (This is an empty ship that you can claim for yourself should you wish.) You can use a tractor beam to pull the empty ship to your nearest space station, or shove the spaceship in that direction with your own ship.
