How to Cut Yggdrasil Shoots to Get Yggdrasil Wood in Valheim

With the new Mistlands update to Valheim comes new materials for the player to collect and craft with. One of these is roots of the mighty Yggdrasil tree. These roots appear on the ground in Mistlands.

This guide will show you how to get Yggdrasil wood and how to harvest Yggdrasil Shoots in the Mistlands. Surviving the journey into this new biome will be in your hands however…

Where to Find Yggdrasil Shoots

For starters, you are going to have to find a new type of tree called a Yggdrasil Shoot. These can be found in the new Mistlands biome. These ‘trees’ are basically everywhere within the Mistlands so finding them will be no challenge. If this is your first time in the Mistlands, I would advise trying to find some Yggdrasil Roots near the edge of the biome for an easy escape if danger comes.

You can see in the image above the Yggdrasil Shoot. They just look like regular trees in the game so they won’t stand out at all. They are the only tree that I’ve found in the Mistlands so far.

How to Get Yggdrasil Wood

As you can probably guess, the way you get Yggdrasil wood is by cutting down Yggdrasil Shoots. To be able to cut down the Yggdrasil Shoots you will need to have a Black Metal quality axe. This is the material that you will find in the Plains biome. Iron will not work at all.

You will usually get 1 unit of Yggdrasil wood from every small shoot you cut down, and 10 from every tree. (You will get 5 Yggdrasil wood from each Log that you break apart. This wood is currently the best wood in the game. All of the end-game weapons will be crafted using Yggdrasil wood.
