Where Can an Anchovy be Caught?
Location: You can catch the Anchovy at two locations, depending on your farm type chosen at the start of the game. The two places are the Ocean at the south of the village, or directly at the Beach Farm. Obviously you will have had to have chosen the beach farm as your starting location, otherwise this won’t apply.
Time: You can only catch anchovies at the beach in Stardew Valley in the seasons Spring and Fall. The anchovy can be caught at any part of the day. Morning, day or night.
To recap, you will have to catch an Anchovy at any time of day, during the Spring or Fall at the beach.
Buying an Anchovy in Stardew Valley
The only way that the player can buy an Anchovy is by finding one available in the shop. There is a trader with a rotating inventory found in the forest, south of the house. There is also Krobus’ shop, located in the sewer.
The Anchovy can be bought from both the Travelling Cart shop in the forest and from Krobus’ shop. The only problem here is that both of these shops have a rotating random inventory. This means you will have to check every day to see if the anchovy is apart of their daily inventory. The anchovy does have a chance to appear in both of the shops but due to the fact it is completely random, you may not ever see it appear here. In any case, it’s better to just try to fish one up yourself as they are not particularly hard to catch.
How to Catch Any Fish at Any Time of the Year
There is one item that allows you to catch fish at any time of the year. The item, Magic Bait can be purchased from Qi’s shop on Ginger Island.
If you use this bait, like you’d use regular bait on a fishing rod, you can catch fish from any time of the year. You will still have to fish in the correct location however and the fish you hook will be random. In the case of the Anchovy, this would be at the Beach, or directly on the Beach Farm. Whatever can be caught at the ocean has a possibility of being caught using magic bait.
